Your Lincoln Regional Aviation Association was invited to participate in the recent Open House celebrating the arrival of the airport's newest business, the Lincoln Flight Center. While the LFC owner, Rick Corbett, served up the food and beverages, a gathering of more than 70 local aviation enthusiasts poured over a display of new Cessna aircraft as well as meet the friendly cadre of LFC instructors and staff. Additionally, Rick provided space and time for representatives of the LRAA and Angel Flight West to promote the purpose of their respective groups. Thanks, Rick! We'll be looking forward to teaming up with the Lincoln Flight Center for future aviation-themed events!

LRAA Establishes Interim Board of Directors; President reports "We're moving forward!"
[posted January 17, 2008]
(The following message from the LRAA Interim President was sent to registered members of the LRAA.)
Hello, Fellow Aviators!
Seven Lincoln area aviation enthusiasts came together in mid December to put the process of establishing the LRAA as an official organization into full motion. An interim slate of officers were drafted from within that group, Corl Leach as president and Steve Schulte as Secretary/Treasurer, while the others agreed to serve as interim members of the board of directors. John Coze, Dave Daly, Steve Gorman, Phil Haupt, and Bill Roselle, plus the two already mentioned, are now actively engaged in completing the foundation that will culminate with a kickoff celebration for our airport community in the spring. Keep watching for the announcement or, even better, come join us in the process that will transform the LRAA into YOUR association!
I'm very happy with the progress that has been made so far. We're well underway to accomplishing the myriad of steps in the organizational process. While everyone has been busy Iíd like to specifically thank Steve Schulte who completed the paperwork and legwork required to have the LRAA listed as an official organization in the eyes of the Placer County government. Steve Gorman gets a nod, too, for his work in performing the initial composition of what will evolve into our operating by laws. Meanwhile, I've corresponded with the California Pilots Association to assure we're able to conform to the standards necessary to incorporate as a Chapter within that organization and obtain recognition as a 501(c)(3) educational, nonprofit entity. Without a doubt the LRAA will be "real" in a very short time!
Communications are essential for the operation of any organization. To help us out Iíve added an online forum (discussion bulletin board) to the LRAA website. Just click on the Unicom link to complete the brief but necessary registration for participation on the forum. I anticipate Unicom to be a very useful tool for us to quickly pass information among the membership. Additionally, area aviation fans now have a venue to share their thoughts, views, and opinions with each other thus adding to the ways we fulfill our Association's goals. You'll also be able to use Unicom to coordinate those weekend $100 hamburger fly outs as well as get assistance from experts to complete that Aviation Merit Badge! I encourage all LRAA members and other local aviation enthusiasts to sign up and visit Unicom as soon as possible.
The next couple of months will be exciting for those who share the passion of aviation. I encourage each of you to consider signing up as a member of the LRAA. While the payment of dues are not required to participate in Association events, only those holding full member status are eligible to vote or hold elected positions in the organization. Additionally, your financial contribution will go a long way in assuring the LRAA has the resources to achieve the membersí goals.
Initial LRAA gathering highlights organization's usefulness

A diverse group of Lincoln area aviation enthusiasts met in the AeroSport West hangar on October 20th to celebrate their common bond and provide initial direction for the newly-forming Lincoln Regional Aviation Association.
This “takeoff event” began with a discussion on how the idea for a locally based group had evolved from the committee producing the annual Lincoln Airport Day & Airshow. Recognizing that the cityís airport staff was being overburdened by the project, local airport supporters were stepping in to help. As the event continues to grow and become more complex it was seen as a logical progression to allow an independent organization to take over the eventís production responsibilities. The City of Lincoln airport staff would maintain an oversight role but by reducing their workload it would permit the airport to continue to function without being impaired by the myriad of tasks related to the event.
Simultaneously with the Airport Day project, other local airport supporters were busy with attempts to form an aviation coalition at the airport. Accounts of nearby airports encountering adversarial relations with adjoining neighborhoods stood as examples of how a well informed, organized airport community could counter such attacks on their livelihoods. Fortunately, the Lincoln Regional Airport currently enjoys a good relationship with its neighbors, but as development projects explode in the region attitudes may turn. Having a viable support network established before problems occur is essential to securing favorable outcomes in future.
A single unified association is capable of accomplishing both tasks efficiently, thus the Lincoln Regional Aviation Association came into being.
Since the conceptual day, LRAA members have suggested additional areas of emphasis and activities that could be organized as ongoing projects. These included establishing a consistent Sunday morning breakfast fly-out event; improving communication between hangar owners; andÝconducting EAA Young Eagles flight programs and other “share the air” flight experience activities for area youth.
A second organizational meeting is scheduled for 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 10th at the Lincoln Regional Airport. All area aviation enthusiasts are encouraged to attend and bring their own ideas, concerns, and desires to share. It is anticipated that this meeting will see the rise of a cadre of leaders who will help guide the Lincoln Regional Aviation Association into an active, engaged organization enhancing the enjoyment and information needs of the regionís aviation community.
