Greetings, Fellow Aviators!

There are few things more exciting to me than a gathering of aviation enthusiasts. Whether it’s an informal group casually critiquing landings on a cool morning while steam wafts from hangar-brewed coffee or a large seminar filled with mind-stimulating presentations by aviators who have accomplished amazing feats, I’m there!

Regardless of the venue though, the common thread is that it takes more than one person to make any event enjoyable. So, it is with great excitement then that I’m able to extend the invitation for the community to engage in several different activities in the coming weeks. First off, get your taste buds warmed up for an old-fashioned cookout on Saturday, August 16th beginning at 11:00 am. Sample the burgers, brats and other picnic-fare compliments of the LRAA or bring your own items to cook on the provided grills. This is a purely social event ... no program, no agenda ... just aviators doing what they do best, swapping stories and eating!

This activity will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 6th, 2008 at the Twelve Bridges Library in Lincoln. We’ve landed some very talented speakers addressing diverse and unique topics that you will certainly want to see and hear! Additionally, this event qualifies as a knowlege elective toward the FAA WINGS - Pilot Proficiency Program.

The last event I will highlight in this writing is the upcoming 3rd annual Lincoln Airport Day & Airshow the first Saturday in October. Bigger and better than last year, additional aerobatic performers, fly-bys, and static display aircraft will keep you busy all day long. In cooperation with the EAA, "Young Eagles" flights will be offered to youth ages 8 to 17. Of course, all this requires a lot of work to organize and present so volunteers are still being sought. Join the fun and sign up to help by emailing volunteer@lraa.aero.
